Technical highlights

EUROCAT drum-type mowers
The newly-developed drums on the EUROCAT drum-type mowers deliver high-quality work in all conditions.
  • The ultimate design of drum body tackles the densest of crops without problem.
  • Not affected by dirt.
  • Swath can be placed using swath formers.
  • Changing from conditioner with wide-spread to swath formers takes just minutes.

Best crop flow
  • Low-slung design - trouble-free transfer from mower disc to conditioner.
  • Inner drum bodies are smaller diameter for improved clearance.
  • Heavy-duty inside body with large bearings.
  • Outer mower drum is bolted to gear trough for straightforward removal.
The big plus ...

EUROCAT with infinitely-variable cutting height adjustment system
  • The height of all 4 drums can be adjusted simultaneously from above.
  • The heavy-duty adjustment system is fully sealed in a metal housing encapsulated by a rubber boot.

Benefits:
  • Smooth working and always easy to adjust.
  • Easy access.
  • Cutting height adjustable from 35 to 60 mm.
  • High-cut saucers optional (20 mm extra cutting height).

Extra-dry-conditioner
Extra dry conditioners carefully rub the layer of wax covering the crop. The forage is then deposited across the full width in an airy blanket. The power of the sun has immediate and full effect. Advantages of the "extra dry" technology:
  • Shorter drying period in the field, less risk from the weather.
  • Increasing energy content by up to 10% saves on concentrates.
  • Better silage quality due to rapid reduction in PH-value
  • No tedding (or less tedding) required, which saves time and simplifies the process.
New roller conditioner
The roller conditioner is especially suitable for lucerns and clovers due to its precision conditioning capabilities.
The profile of the new Pöttinger roller conditioner is spiral-shaped. The rollers intermesh to uniformly squash the stalks and produce a uniform blanket of forage. On Pöttinger conditioners both rollers are driven. The degree of conditioning can be adjusted by altering the spring-loading of the upper roller.

Conditioners with V-shaped tines
    • The wide rotor ensures that even really large quantities pass through easily. Robust bearing assemblies on either side.
    • Conditioned crop spread over the full width - thin layer, optimized degree of conditioning.
    • V-shaped conditioner tines on all units mounted on Pöttinger mowersarranged in a spiral for a smooth flow of forage without torque peaks
    • The steel tines are mounted in rubber bushes.
    • Impact from foreign objects is absorbed and the crop is protected

    Removable in minutes ...
If you don't need the conditioner you simply remove it; e.g. for the daily green feed requirement. Open two quick-release coupling pins, release the rotor drive belt tensioner and remove the belts. Attach auxiliary wheels on either side and wheel the complete conditioner away - it's as easy as that.

    IMPORTANT!

    Steel fingers
with rubber dampers. The absorption characteristics of the rubber elements protect the conditioner and the forage.

    Plastic fingers
on NOVACAT 225/265 ED for lower weight so that they can be operated using smaller tractors.

    Remove on your own
Release coupling pins - remove v-belts - wheel the conditioner away.

     Rotor drive
l No additional angular gear unit required. l Power is transmitted direct from the cutter bar shaft to the rotor using drive belts.

    "Floating Cut"
       Centre pivot suspension
Always ensures that the whole cutter bar is supported evenly.

    Benefits:
    • Better response on uneven ground for fast and tidy mowing
    • Evenly spread load from inside to outside
    • The outer skid of the cutter bar comes into contact with the ground before the inside one, for optimum protection of the stubble.
    Countersprings

Pöttinger mowers exert a pressure on the ground of no more than between 70 and 100 kg. That is how the sward remains undamaged.

The pressure the cutter bar exerts on the ground can be adjusted quickly and easily using a pin-in-hole matrix.

    Benefits of the countersprings
    • "Floating cut"
    • Protects stubble
    • Light-weight, low drag, especially for slopes
    • Low wear on skids
      IMPORTANT!

    Detailed information

    Mounting configuration
    • Robust linkage frame with category II or III linkage pins
    • Adjustable lower linkage pins for ideal adaptation to any tractor hitch.

      Drive system:
      • Power is transmitted from the PTO shaft through the incoming gear unit to drive connecting shafts and the hexagonal shaft that drives the mower drums
      • The hexagonal shaft runs submerged in oil to provide reliable drive to the mower drums
      • The driveline is protected by an overload clutch in the PTO shaft
      • A freewheel is integrated into the driveline

Weight alleviation provided by powerful springs
      • Two powerful weight alleviation springs ensure a uniform ground pressure over the whole width of the cutter bar
      • Weight alleviation is adjustable by relocating the spring mountings in 6 different positions
      • Large freedom of movement: the centre pivot suspension allows the mower to respond more quickly to undulations. Greatly reduces side loads and drag resistance

      Transport settings
      • Raised to rear: ideal for road transport
      • Raised to side: ideal for field transport - the PTO shaft is free to rotate in any position
      • Pivoted to rear: ideal for low clearances (not for transport!)

Collision protection - Just in case
      mecanical
      hydraulic
The release pressure is set using coil springs. For road transport, the operator can disengage the interlock latch from the driver‘s seat so that the mower can be folded for transport. Collision protection and folding mechanism are combined in one system. If the mower overloads or collides with any obstacles the mower pivots away and can be brought back into the working position hydraulically.
