Poettinger at Fitzgeralds in Wisconsin
Read the success story from a well equipped dairyfarm...
We used to spend about 1100 to 1200 $ on replacing sickles, guards, and hold downs on our 18 ft. swather. It was just preparing of the machine before starting the season every year. On top of that amount comes also the money we used to spend for repairing during the season.
So far we have cuttet 3000 acres with our Poettinger Novacat 8600 (rear) and 306 (front), and we just reversed the knives for the first time. This dependability comes from the amazing way the Poettinger flotation system works on the contours in the field.
Since it takes less than ½ hour to take off the mower, or mount it on the tractor again, we now have the tractor available for other things when we are done cutting. In our way of farming this way of flexibility what Poettinger offers, is simply very important, and in the end of the day, it's worth a lot.
This piece of equipment is way to good to be true. I’ve cut 3000 acres now, and without a single breakdown. We can easily reach a capacity of 15 acres an hour, and that’s even with the turnings and moving from field to field included.
Another very positive thing we have discovered after we got the mower is that the ride in the tractor is much smoother and less stressful than what we were used to in the self propelled windrower. In general we are very happy about the investment we made with D&D equipment and Poettinger, and after using it for the first season we are sure that we could not have spend our money better in any other ways. Its simply one of the best investments we have ever made on our dairy.
